I Got a Story to Tell: God Answers Prayers

I’ve been feeling like it’s time for me to share a testimony that has helped me grow in Christ. On this journey to becoming my best self, I’ve experienced a lot of growth and change. The most significant part has been hearing from God. Although I have always had faith, I recently went through a tough time that truly tested my trust in His plan. In my uncertainty, I turned to God, and He responded mightily. His message was clear! God answers prayers!

It was the month of February 2024, specifically the week of February 26th. I was feeling down and unhappy with my job. Many of you may have been down this road before—feeling overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated. That’s exactly how it felt for me. It seemed like I was spending so much time working that I barely had time to focus on bettering myself and creating a more fulfilling life outside of my 9-5 job.

Time and time again, I would go through phases where my job made me feel so depressed. Every Sunday evening, I would get annoyed at the thought of a new work week. I would vent and complain to whoever would listen. Sometimes, I would cry and then pray about it; other times, I wouldn’t pray at all, hoping that God would just come to my rescue. That feeling would fade, and I rested on the belief that God would eventually come through sooner rather than later.

Well, this particular time was different because that feeling lasted for some weeks. I was extremely frustrated—to the point where I was actually mad at God. It’s crazy, I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was. I found myself questioning Him: “What is taking you so long? Why are you keeping me at this miserable job?” I was spending less time in my Bible and wasn’t trying to watch or listen to any of the faith-based influencers I subscribe to or follow.

On Friday, March 1st, I was on an accountability call with some friends when one of them shared a testimony about her tough time and need for divine intervention from the Lord. She explained how one evening she expressed her anger toward God, even using profanity. She was in such an emotional state and really meant no disrespect. As a self-employed individual, the DoorDashing business had been slow for days, and she wasn’t bringing in the income she expected.

When she took her frustration to the Lord, it wasn’t a timid ask as usual. She boldly and passionately expressed her request, telling God that He needed to help her reach her goal of making at least $200 a day. Without much more thought, she went to sleep on it. The next day, she went out to do some DoorDashing as usual. It wasn’t until later that she realized she had made exactly $200. She even had more good moneymaking days following that.

Not only had God heard her prayer, as bold as it was, but He also answered it expeditiously. Her faith was absolutely another driving factor. She believed she could, and through Him, she did! In sharing her testimony, she made me realize that we mustn’t be afraid to go to the Lord boldly. It’s exactly what He wants. Maybe not the profanity, but you get what I’m saying! LOL The point is, don’t hold back. God wants to hear from you.

Here we are, it’s another Sunday night. I was so upset and dreading another day at this job. As soon as my fiancé went to bed, I let it out. Tears just started falling. I didn’t want to complain or vent to him like I normally did. This time, I went into my office, grabbed my prayer journal, and took my frustration straight to God, being bold with it! I let it all out and kicked it with Him like never before.

At this point, I was looking for God to reveal His plans for me. In my prayer, I specifically asked Him to give me a clear sign of what my next move should be to take me where I need to be. I asked Him to make the sign or message so clear that I couldn’t miss it, and that I needed His answer by the end of the week. I actually gave God a deadline, y’all!

On the following day, I had just got off work and was washing dishes and preparing to cook dinner. As usual, I propped my iPad up so that I could watch something on YouTube while I worked in the kitchen. I needed to find something that fed my spirit good energy. However, I wasn’t exactly looking to watch any faith-based stuff or things of that nature. To be honest, I was kind of over it.

When I opened YouTube, a new video from Melody Alisa, a faith-based content creator, was the first video on my home page. She typically releases new content on Mondays. Her videos usually involve a Bible lesson where she breaks down different passages using real-life examples to help understand the scripture. I absolutely love her videos, but I wasn’t in the mood for anything like that at the time. So, I clicked “Save to Watch Later” and looked for something else to watch.

I then found another video, started watching it, and went back to my dishes. I don’t even remember what the video was about. All I know is that the more I listened to the girl, the less interested I became. So, I clicked off the video and resumed washing dishes. The moment I got my hands wet, the Melody Alisa video I had just saved started auto-playing. So I said to myself, “Forget it,” and just let it play. It turned out to be an eye-opener for me—the topic completely blew my mind.

Melody, in an unexpected twist, used this Monday to share her job testimony. As I started to listen, my first thought was, “My goodness, He works fast! Lord, You had Melody post this for little ol’ me??” Because WHAT!?? LOL Everything she talked about—from being the subject matter expert of software she didn’t care much for to other experiences on the job and badly wanting to quit her job to become a full-time YouTuber—was almost identical to my circumstances. I dropped the video below so you can watch.

Here I was, wondering how on earth this job could possibly be relevant to what I’m trying to do now with my business. The video was a wake-up call! It reminded me that God works in mysterious ways, equipping us even when we don’t realize it. This video was a direct answer to my prayer and God made it quite evident. Trust Him, even when things don’t seem connected.

Hearing Melody’s story was so encouraging. It was my confirmation that God is guiding me, even when the path seems unclear. Finding this video feels like a divine nudge—a powerful reminder to trust His timing and surrender to His process. All those skills and experiences I’ve gained, even the ones that seemed random, must be equipping me for something extraordinary. This video is a sign to keep moving forward and have faith that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
