Why Fenty Hair and Cécred Don’t Need to Compete

In a world where the beauty industry is constantly evolving, it’s always exciting to see fresh and innovative products hit the shelves. I know I’m late on the subject, but I couldn’t resist chiming in on a topic that’s been buzzing in the beauty and entertainment world. Recently, two of the most influential women in entertainment, Rihanna and Beyoncé, launched their hair lines. When Rihanna launched Fenty Hair shortly after Beyoncé’s Cecred debut, it got the girlies in an uproar, heightening tensions between the two fandoms.

Beyoncé vs. Rihanna?

The fans’ reaction is a prime example of a broader issue in the entertainment industry, where people often unfairly pit successful black women against each other. Instead of celebrating their achievements, the narrative often shifts towards competition, overshadowing the significance of their contributions. While some may see this as an opportunity to compare and contrast, playing one off against the other, I believe it’s time to shift our way of thinking. Instead of choosing sides, let’s celebrate the achievements of both these phenomenal women.

Both Can Coexist Beautifully

The whole Rih against Beyoncé is exhausting. Why must the stans always make it about beef? Can’t we celebrate both? Why can’t we appreciate the unique contributions each one brings to the table? By doing so, we not only uplift these incredible women but also send a powerful message of unity and support within the Black community.

Rihanna, with her Fenty brand, has consistently pushed boundaries and set new standards in the beauty world. From inclusive makeup ranges to skincare that caters to all, she’s been a trailblazer. Her new hair line is no exception, promising to deliver the same level of excellence and innovation that we’ve come to expect from Fenty. I actually bought Fenty Hair when it first dropped and still haven’t had a chance to open it yet. However, I plan to do so soon and review it in another post. Stay tuned for my thoughts on it.

On the other hand, Beyoncé, a powerhouse in her own right, has also stepped into the hair care arena a few months prior with her line, Cécred. Beyoncé’s meticulous attention to detail and dedication to quality make Cécred set to empower and inspire. Her commitment to celebrating natural beauty and enhancing what we already possess resonates deeply with her fans.

From Legacy to Innovation

Both Rihanna and Beyoncé’s hair lines are a reflection of their unique journeys and experiences with hair. Beyoncé grew up with the influence of her mother, who owned a hair salon. This experience taught her the importance of maintaining healthy hair even under wigs and color treatments. This has inspired Cécred to focus on products that repair and maintain hair health.

Meanwhile, Rihanna has always showcased bold and ever-changing hairstyles that mark different phases of her career. Even more, she recently experienced postpartum hair loss, which was another thing that prompted her to start her own hair line. She designed Fenty Hair to provide the moisture and care needed to recover from styling and frequent changes, ensuring hair remains strong and healthy.

The narrative that we must choose between supporting Rihanna or Beyoncé is unnecessary and diminishes their impact. They are both successful black women who have overcome numerous obstacles to reach where they are today. Their achievements should be a source of inspiration, not competition.

They have both built remarkable brands that reflect their unique styles and visions. Fenty Hair and Cécred offer innovative products for diverse audiences, showcasing their founders’ talents and dedication to hair care. Instead of seeing this as competition, we should recognize the empowerment these brands bring and the inspiration they offer.

Let’s just appreciate the greatness both Rihanna and Beyoncé are bringing to the table.
